This handbuilt blue ceramic garlic grater plate is one of my favorite pieces to make in the studio. I shape each one slowly by hand from high-quality stoneware clay, allowing the edges to stay softly wavy and organic rather than perfectly uniform. The textured center is pressed and carved to be both beautiful and functional, making it easy to grate fresh garlic, ginger, or citrus zest directly on the surface.
Each plate measures approximately 5.5 inches in diameter and sits comfortably in the hand, with a subtle weight that feels grounding and intentional. After bisque firing, I glaze each piece by hand in layered ocean-inspired blues, then high-fire it for strength and daily durability. The surface breaks differently every time, creating natural variations that feel calm, coastal, and quietly expressive.
 
I often use this piece while cooking or as a small serving plate for olive oil and herbs, but it also works beautifully styled on open shelving or layered into a curated kitchen display. Made in my Charlotte, NC studio, each one is truly one of a kind.
