This hand built pottery plate with ruffled edge came together slowly in my Charlotte, NC studio, shaped entirely by hand from high quality stoneware clay. I let the rim move naturally as I worked, allowing soft ripples to form so the piece feels organic rather than forced. On the back, I added three small clay ball feet that gently elevate the plate, giving it height. After drying, it was bisque fired, then glazed by hand in layered coastal blues, soft whites, and quiet gray tones before being high fired for strength and durability.
