I made this handbuilt ceramic leaf sculpture by shaping each leaf individually from high quality stoneware clay and layering them so the form feels natural and alive. The veins are pressed in by hand and the edges are gently lifted and folded so the leaves overlap the way they might on the forest floor. I like pieces that feel connected to the natural world, and this one grew slowly in my hands as each leaf was added to the composition.
 
After the first bisque firing, I brushed on a soft green glaze that settles into the texture and highlights the raised veins. The glaze breaks slightly warmer along the edges, giving the surface depth and a subtle variation that reminds me of leaves after rain. Each piece is glazed by hand and high fired, which gives the sculpture both durability and a quiet presence.
 
The piece measures approximately 9 inches long and 4 inches tall, making it a beautiful sculptural accent for a console table, bookshelf, or coffee table.
