This handbuilt ceramic ruffled bowl in blush pink and seafoam green is one of my favorite forms to make, because no two ever come out the same. I start with high-quality stoneware clay, building the dramatic, organic ruffled edge entirely by hand so each fold and wave is its own. The piece is bisque fired, glazed by hand, and high-fired for lasting strength and durability.
 
At 12 inches wide and 5 inches deep, it has real presence without overwhelming a space. The interior glaze moves from a soft celadon center through layered seafoam and warm ochre, almost like looking into a tide pool. The exterior carries a rosy, iridescent blush that catches the light as you move around it.
