I created this Decorative Green Ceramic Bowl with Wavy Edges with the idea of capturing that soft coastal calm I feel whenever I pause to watch light ripple over water. I handbuilt it slowly from high quality stoneware clay, shaping the gentle waves with my fingers so the form would feel organic and alive. After the piece dried, I bisque fired it, glazed every curve by hand, and high fired it for lasting strength and durability. The greens move across the surface in layered tones that shift in the light, sometimes bright like sunlit water and sometimes deeper and more serene.
 
In the middle of shaping this bowl I knew it needed to stay intimate in scale, so it measures about 8 inches across and 3 inches high which makes it easy to use as a small centerpiece, a serving piece, or a sculptural accent on a shelf. The surface has a soft smooth sheen that feels comforting to touch and gives the bowl a natural glow.
