I made this small green ceramic dish to work perfectly as a handmade ceramic spoon rest. It’s about 5 inches long and 4 inches wide, just the right size to keep next to the stove. I shaped the scalloped edges by hand, letting the form flow naturally, almost like the edge of a leaf. The surface is lightly textured—I wanted it to feel soft and organic without being too fussy.
 
When I brushed on the glaze, it settled into the low spots and brought out the texture in a really beautiful way. The green turned out soft and earthy, exactly what I hoped for. I use a similar one in my own kitchen every day, and it makes the simple act of cooking feel just a little more special. There’s something really satisfying about making a handmade ceramic spoon rest—each one turns out a little different, and that uniqueness is what I love most.
