How Much Do Handmade Pottery Bowls Cost?

If you’ve ever wondered how much do handmade pottery bowls cost? For my studio, the answer really depends on the piece. Each of my bowls are hand built and no two are exactly alike. Some are small, simple, and approachable; others are larger, more sculptural, and layered with many glazes. The price reflects the time, materials, and care behind each piece, and it also depends on which collection you’re exploring.

Everyday Bowls: Starter Collection

In my Everyday collection, most bowls are around $50. These smaller, simpler pieces are a perfect starter if you’re new to handmade pottery or looking for a thoughtful gift. They’re ideal for birthdays, small celebrations, or just treating yourself. The glazes are subtle and approachable, the shapes practical, and the bowls versatile enough for daily use. I like to think of this collection as a gentle introduction to the tactile joy of handbuilt pottery.

Bowls Collection: For Special Occasions and Bigger Gifts

Once you’re ready for a bowl with a little more presence, my Bowls collection is where the work really shines. These are handbuilt stoneware bowls, often larger or layered with more complex glazes. Many of these pieces are ideal for corporate gifts, weddings, anniversaries, or anyone who appreciates a high-quality, functional art object. These prices do range higher than the Everyday Collection but again, what you’re paying for is time, intention, and craft. Each bowl carries subtle variations in texture, color, and glaze movement, making it uniquely yours.

Sculptural & Large Bowls: Statement Pieces

Beyond that, I create sculptural or oversized bowls. These pieces are almost like art objects, meant to make a statement on a table, shelf, or countertop. The glazes can be more experimental, and the forms more ambitious. Their value isn’t just utility but t’s presence and craft. These pieces naturally sit at the higher end of the spectrum and represent months of handbuilding, experimentation, and careful firing.

Why Handmade Pottery Costs More

Every bowl carries the story of its making: the pinch, coil, and layering of clay, the bisque firing, the careful brushing, pouring, or layering of glazes, and the final high fire that locks in colors and textures. You can feel the attention in the weight, the subtle ridges from my hands, and the way light dances across the surface. Handmade pottery isn’t just functional; it’s a companion for your table, a tactile joy, and a little piece of art that grows with you.

Are Handmade Bowls Worth It?

Absolutely. A hand built stoneware bowl can fit seamlessly into everyday life yet hold enough presence to mark special occasions. The Everyday bowls make charming starters and gifts, while my main Bowls collection elevates celebrations, perfect as corporate gifts, for weddings, or anniversaries. If you’re drawn to scale or sculptural detail, these bowls become focal points in your home. Each piece is functional, beautiful, and uniquely yours.
